Sudie Whalen
Sudie Whalen is a senior technical assistance consultant with AIR working primarily on the California Adult Literacy Professional Development Project (CALPRO) out of the Sacramento office serving as Online Course Coordinator. She also works on other professional development projects specific to adult education and professional learning communities. Specifically, she is a developer and facilitator for the CALPRO PLC Institute, the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation Student Success Initiative PLC Institute, and the Los Angeles Regional Adult Education Consortium Collaboration Fundamentals training series.
Whalen has worked in adult education since 2012 as a Lead CTE Teacher. During her time as a lead teacher, she led the PLC implementation process at Liberty Adult Education Center in Brentwood, California. This collaborative process allowed her to expand existing programs, often revamping them to include industry-recognized certifications and alignment with career pathways skills as identified by the U.S. Department of Labor as well as the Ongoing Education and Training recommendations. She also collaborated with other lead teachers to improve methods of identifying incoming students’ goals and abilities in order to enhance their capacity to succeed on their respective career pathways; this assisted students with bridging to college or onsite vocational programs.
Before her advancement in education, she worked for AT&T technical assistance for two years after serving four years in the U.S. Army as an Avenger (missile) System Technician.
